Resolving STK Analyzer Setup Issues:
A Step-by-Step Guide to verify your Java Runtime Environment

Important facts about STK Analyzer installation:

  • A 64-bit version of Java 8 or 11 is required to be installed preferably prior to the setup of STK Analyzer
  • If you install other similar products or versions of STK Analyzer, it could affect the running of STK Analyzer.
  • Only one version of STK Analyzer should be installed at a time because Analyzer cannot be run side-by-side.
  • Uninstalling ModelCenter of another version of Analyzer will prevent the previous version of Analyzer from running. Uninstalling and reinstalling the desired version of Analyzer will be required.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Setting Up Analyzer:

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have not installed STK Analyzer yet, it is preferable not to attempt to install STK Analyzer on your computer before installing Java first. However if you have already installed STK Analyzer before installing Java, or if you are still having issues despite having followed the right procedure, there is a way to fix it.

If you already have installed Java:

  1. Check if the correct 64-bit version of Java is installed on your computer:
    1. In the Windows Search bar, search for "Apps" and select "Add or remove programs"
    2. Enter "Java" in the "Search this list" search bar
    3. Identify which version(s) of Java you have installed
    4. A correct installation would look like this (It can either be Java 8 64-bit or Java 11 64-bit):

If you do not have installed Java, or if you have the incorrect version of Java:

  1. Download Java 64-bit installation file (It is recommended to download the Offline 64-bit installer) at https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
  2. Proceed to the installation of Java by executing the installation file
  3. Repeat the first checklist from above to make sure that Java is installed
  4. You should be all set to install Analyzer now

How can I install Analyzer?

  1. Download available in the STK download page, by clicking on the Systems Tool Kit (STK) Premium link at https://support.agi.com/downloads/
  2. STK Premium Air or Space License is required.

If you still have the Analyzer Configuration Error despite following the recommended steps, or if you have installed Java after installing STK Analyzer:

The following error still appears?

Then it is time to check the Registry Editor:

  1. In the Windows Search bar, search for "Registry Editor" and open it while making sure you have Administrator rights on your session:
  2. In the left-side panel of your registry editor, you have a selection of folders you can navigate through. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
  3. You will then have access on the central panel to a list of keys with different values. Make sure that the PHX_JRE_HOME key points to the path of your Java install folder in the field "Data". This should look like this:
  4. Repeat the same steps 2 and 3 with the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment
  5. If the keys are not pointing to your Java installation folder and that instead they display "NotInstalled", do the following:
    1. When you are in the Environment folders of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\Environment, double click on the key called by the name PHX_JRE_HOME.
    2. In the newly opened window called "Edit String" edit the field called "Value data:" and replace it by the path to your Java installation folder. This should look like this:
    3. Click Ok and close the Registry editor once you have double checked that both environment folders have PHX_JRE_HOME key pointing to your correct Java installation folder path.

If the error still persists when launching STK:

  1. Start the AGI Software Uninstaller. You can search for it in the windows searchbar, or you can typically find it at this location: "C:\Program Files\AGI\Support Tools\AGI_Uninstaller\AGIUninstaller.exe"
  2. Select STK Analyzer in the list and click uninstall:
  3. Once the Uninstalling is complete, you can close this page
  4. Reinstall STK Analyzer from the installer you previously used
  5. Launch STK
